Huo Yingdong, born in May 1923, formerly known as Guantai, was born in Panyu, Guangdong Province. He was born in Hong Kong. He lost his father at the age of 7 and entered the Hong Kong Imperial College in Hong Kong at the age of 12, dropping out of school due to the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Huo Yingdong is an outstanding social activist, a famous patriot, a well-known industrialist in Hong Kong, a close friend of the Chinese Communist Party, the vice chairman of the Eighth, Ninth and Tenth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and the Honorary President of the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce. From November 1992 to November 1996, he was the President of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. In 1985, he served as a member of the Drafting Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Basic Law. In March 1993, he was elected as the vice chairman of the Eighth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. In March 1998, he was elected as the vice chairman of the Ninth CPPCC National Committee. In March 2003, he was elected as the vice chairman of the 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference at the 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
