According to statistics, the total number of foreign tourists coming to Bali each year is more than 3 million.

The Balinese people are made up of a variety of South Island immigrants and prehistoric mixed blood of about 2,500 years ago. Around the 10th century, Indian civilization influenced all of Southeast Asia and was introduced to Bali via Java Island, providing the rudiment of later Balinese literature, art, social organization and politics. In the 13th century, Hindu Javanese began to rule Bali; Islam was introduced to Java in 1515, prompting a large number of Hindu monks, nobles, soldiers, artisans and artists to flee to Bali, creating the golden age of Bali in the 16th century. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Dutch decided to conquer the island. The Balinese indigenous people chose large-scale collective suicide after the defeat was ineffective. In 1906, almost all the nobles of the royal family of Denpasar committed suicide in front of the Dutch army. The suicide incident caused a shock after the news reached Europe, forcing the colonists to practice more humane rule, and the traditional cultural characteristics of Bali could be maintained.

Due to the influence of Indian culture and religion in history, most of the residents believe in Hinduism and are the only places in Indonesia that believe in Hinduism. There are temples in the homes of the believers. The family consists of temples with temples and village temples. There are more than 125,000 temples on the island. Therefore, the island has the reputation of "the island of thousands of temples". The most famous temple in the temple is the Baishaji Mausoleum, which has a thousand-year-old history. The mausoleum was built on the slopes of the Agung volcano called the "navel of the world" to dedicate the volcanic god of this intermittent eruption. The hierarchical stone sculpture of the Mausoleum is similar to the Angkor Wat in Cambodia.
